How do I fix my side swept bangs?

Okay so I tired to cut side swept bangs with some regular hair shears or scissors. I cut it but now it doesn't look right. My longer hair hides my back half of my bangs and it looks like a box. My bangs now are to the middle of my nose. How do I fix this to where it looks like a sweep instead of a ugly box? I straight it and I have a round brush but it never comes out like other peoples!
