Is the New International Version of the Bible accurate?

How many of you would consider it accurate? Or is another version better? Because I am a Muslim, and I read the New International Version of the Bible for knowledge about other religions, but some Christian told me that NIV was not accurate. How do Christians choose between different versions of Bibles, if there are so many out there?
