Does a small Catholic Church Wedding needs an entourage?

me and my boyfriend are planning to get married, I was just curious if a small Catholic Wedding still needs an entourage? I mean, the first plan was to have a civil marriage then have a grand Church Wedding in our hometown, but little did I know that having a civil marriage would not be recognized by the Church. So I was wondering of having just a small wedding ceremony..
